What is a Kiss?

JANUARY 22, 2024

To be an artist and express the unique way I see the world is a blessing and a curse. Today I have the strong feeling that my work is meaningful to others. This has consequences. The place in Englewood where I used to live was great to develop inner confidence through practicing my techniques and discover possibilities in manipulating paint. It was cathartic in the sense that I could work through the trauma’s of my ancestors and even my cultural baggage.

But what is art if it cannot be seen? Or heard? Nothing. It means nothing and paintings will end up in the landfill without ever having been noticed by other people. I am thankful that I had ways to exhibit my work through various channels and that enough people showed their appreciation by buying it. It means a lot to me. Every painting has a story. This is not only the story I made, but also the story of the interaction with the buyer. Painting is my life.

Today I am at a point that I want more people to know my true capabilities.

I still have hundreds of paintings that hardly anybody has ever seen. My expectations are high and the risk I am taking not without danger. However I am determined to make a move because what is a kiss if there is nobody to receive it?

My autobiography is called True Colors, Independently published on January 11, 2024 in English,135 pages. ISBN-13: 979-8875809200.
